Equality Vines Announces Second Release of The Migrant With Mexican Winemaker Edgar Torres of Paso Robles
New red blend is the cause wine portfolio’s first production from California’s Central Coast appellation
Guerneville, CA — October 19, 2021
Equality Vines, the world’s first cause wine portfolio, today announced a second release of The Migrant. Developed in conjunction with Mexican-American winemaker Edgar Torres of Paso Robles. Of course, the new red blend is the brand’s first production from California’s Central Coast appellation. The wine is part of Equality Vine’s Wines Without Borders series. It gives back through sales of The Migrant to Must Charities. Must Charities works hand in hand with Latinos to inspire and achieve healthy living and self-sufficiency. The series pays respect to the valuable contribution migrant workers make to the art and science of viticulture and vinification.
“In addition to the money we’ll be giving to Must Charities, Edgar has generously agreed to match our donation to the cause. Which is one that he graciously supports,” said Jim Obergefell, co-founder of Equality Vines. “Edgar’s story is one of inspiration and his love of winemaking shines through in his wine. And ongoing commitment to his craft and his community.”
“I’m honored to be the first Central Coast winemaker to be featured by an amazing brand for such an important cause,” said Edgar. “Must Charities is a vital part of the Latino community and this wine is an ideal representation of everything they are working to achieve.”
The Migrant, a Rhode Blend
Of course, the Migrant is a Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Carignan. It is in the Equality Vines fall wine club shipment. The essential balance and structure embrace a perfect transition of tannin, acid, and fruit. This blend consists of red and dark fruits, cherry chocolate, and hints of fresh flowers. Just like a migrant who moves from one place to another, this wine travels through the palate exploring the terroir of Paso Robles, California. Edgar Torres was born in Michoacan, Mexico.
At 8 years old, Edgar’s parents brought him with them to the US. They settled in the small coastal town of Cambria, CA. There, they had migrated prior in search of a better life for their family. In 2007 Edgar and his wife Erika officially launched their business. Bodega de Edgar. Today, Bodega de Edgar is a 3,000 case production focused on 100% Spanish Varietals as well as several unique blends. Finally, Edgar’s focus continues to be on producing wine as naturally as possible using the highest quality fruit from local vineyards.
